.ZIPX is Extended Zip File
A ZIPX file is a compressed .ZIP file saved in the extended Zip format, which creates smaller files than the previous versions of the Zip format. ZIPX files contain one or more files saved as a compressed file archive.
The ZIPX format was introduced with WinZip 12.1. The format includes information that indicates the file was created using an advanced compression method. This lets users know that the file must be decompressed with WinZip 12.1 or another compatible file compression utility.
NOTE: ZIPX files can only be opened with WinZip 12.1 or later. Version 12.1 was released in May 2009.
